Our History
Oberina Droughtmaster Stud is situated between Roma and Surat, South West Queensland
It is a new venture started by the Taylor Family; namely Kevin, Chris and David Taylor. Kevin Taylor is well known in the area having grown up on a sheep & cattle property known as' North Bindango' via Roma . He has extensive cattle experience and has been involved with cattle all his life. He previously has been part owner of a Droughtmaster Stud near Kenilworth about 20 years ago and thus started his deep affection for the breed. Before buying 'Oberina' the Taylor Family owned & operated a property called 'Mourachan' near St. George for over 10 years, which ran a large commercial hereford herd and the Mourachan Hereford Stud.
Oberina Droughtmaster Stud has carefully handpicked it's foundation herd and is proud to announce the purchase of Glenlands Kingston as one of our foundaton Sires; bought for $22,000 in Rockhampton in September 2005. We also have been fortunate to have been able to acquire Swan Kiah from the Happy Valley Droughtmaster Stud. Swan Kiah has shown that he is a high quality bull over the years for Happy Valley and has also won many ribbons on the show circuit. Ivanhoe 5423 was bought as a calf at a foot and was selected for his expceptional bloodlines. He has grown into a bull with tremendous growth and muscle with an outstanding temperment. Please see our Sires in Use section for more information.
Being a new stud we have the benefit of selecting cattle of the highest quality offered from decades of selective breeding. The females chosen must show positive traits in ALL areas; particularly temperment and fertility.
We believe in handling all our cattle with the utmost care, being especially sure that all their nutritional requirements are met for key growth stages. This ensures offspring will be able to develop to their full potential.
We aspire to providing only quality cattle and hope to establish long and valued relationships with all our clients & we are proud to be part of the Droughtmaster Family. Please feel free to contact us if you would like to find out more about the Stud and our future plans.
